COMPAC obtains the highest award Red Dot Design: Best of the Best for the ICE of Genesis collection

A jury made up of 48 professionals from disciplines related to design from different countries has selected the COMPAC collection.
The Red Dot Design Awards are the most prestigious international awards in the world of product design.

Valencia, April 2022. COMPAC, the leading company in the manufacture and distribution of terrazo, quartz and obsidiana surfaces, has won the Best of the Best award with its ICE of Genesis collection. The prestigious international Red Dot Design awards choose, each year, the best products in the design and architecture sector.

The ICE of Genesis collection is designed by internationally renowned artist, Arik Levy, with one of the company’s strongest and most durable materials, Quartz COMPAC. Using the great frozen lakes of the Arctic as inspiration, Levy has created a series of designs that are reminiscent of the sensation of walking on ice sheets: a unique balance between translucency, fragility and stability.

As part of the KBIS 2022 exhibition, COMPAC presented the new designs created by the artist for the collection. To this series, which already had four designs, another four are added to complete the collection; they all have a max version available for large projects.

Inspired by the seasons of the year, Arik Levy has created four new designs: ICE Green represents nature blooming in spring, ICE Gold the sunbeams of summer, ICE Viola the autumn lights and ICE Ink the darkness of winter reflected in the frozen lakes that served as the conception of the collection.

Through these new designs, Arik Levy wanted to meet customers’ needs that look for surfaces for different types of environments.

IQ Circular Science

The beneficial properties of this material of natural origin make it the perfect solution for all kinds of applications in the architecture and design sector, especially on interior surfaces that must endure intensive use such as kitchen countertops, flooring, cladding, as well as furniture and sculptures.

To produce this material, the IQ Circular Science concept “The responsible sense of COMPAC” has been applied, which the company incorporates in all its production processes. This way of working consists of producing surfaces in a sustainable way, using energy from 100% renewable sources and reusing 98% of the water in the production process, which is also of rainwater origin.
In addition, the four new designs include recycled raw materials in their formulation, which allows the surfaces to be recycled once their useful life is over.

This award is a recognition of the work carried out by COMPAC both in the development and mastery of materials and in collaborations with leading designers, architects and artists such as Arik Levy, or the recent collaboration with Elisa Ossino. The commitment to design thanks to its continuous collaboration with artists is, undoubtedly, one of the differential values of COMPAC.

Red Dot Design Awards, a prestigious international award
With approximately 20,000 entries, the Red Dot Award is one of the largest design awards in the world. Its origin dates back to 1955 but it was not until the 1990s that Peter Zec developed its name and brand. Since then, the Red Dot seal has been synonymous with international prestige in the world of design and a guarantee of exceptional design.

A selection of samples and boards from the ICE of Genesis collection will be part of the ephemeral exhibition of the three museums that the Red Dot association has around the world. Visitors will be able to appreciate the beauty and finishes of Quartz COMPAC from June 20, 2022 to May 2023 in the cities of Essen (Germany), Singapore and Xiamen (China).

To present the award, a ceremony will be held during Red Dot Design Week, which will take place from June 20 to 24, a week marked by a program of events with talks, exhibitions, conferences and, the most outstanding act, the awarding ceremony to all the winners in each category.
